Hi, I’m Daren. I’ve lived on Lanzarote for 3 years, but have
been traveling forward and back to this beautiful island for 8 years. My
passion for Triathlon started back in November 2007 when I became friends
with a 68 year old who’s passion about triathlon and the Lanzarote ‘Ironman’ overwhelmed
me. From here, I started to train weekly with this crazy old fella, who showed
me the ropes, and even took me out to sea in a small boat, pushed me over
the side and said ‘there you go, learn to swim!!’ So I did,
and set in motion the wheels of triathlon training.
Two years ago I decided that I’d really like to go for it and do the famous Lanzarote ‘Ironman’, so set out to spend my waking hours swimming, biking and running. The passion of the sport ‘took hold’, and I decided to take part in many local events, collecting as many medals and trophies as possible. Unfortunately last year I fell during a mountain bike race and fractured my ribs, which put a halt to my Ironman training and put me in ‘rehab’! Now I’m back on form and training again. This year has started would a few running and swimming races, Duathlons and Mountain Bike races, and in May I’ll be doing the Ironman 70.3 in St Polten, Austria.
My reason for starting Lanzarote Triathlon is my passion for this sport, mixed with my love of the breathtaking landscape of Lanzarote means that I can give other people the chance to share in my good fortune, and come and train in what I consider one of the most beautiful places on Earth!

Hey there, I’m Debs. I’m Daren’s ‘better’ half….
well so they say anyway!!? I’ve lived on Lanzarote for over 7 years
now, and since I met Daren nearly a year ago have learnt more about the island,
Triathlon and my own personal abilities than ever. I’ve always been
into sport… as you can probably tell by the photo, I love diving and
have worked on Lanzarote for 6 years as a Diving Instructor.
As far as the Triathlon stuff is concerned I am a beginner – done a
half marathon, a few 10km races and got myself a couple of medals, and I
am No.1 supporter of Daren, following him on ALL his races, wherever that
takes me!
My main role within Lanzarote Triathlon will be doing all
the PR and Marketing, logistics and ensuring everything runs smoothly and
a fun time is had by all!! So hopefully, we’ll meet soon…..

We will be taking
you to enjoy the lovely tranquil blue waters of Lanzarote on our ‘sea swims’. Our destination is the ‘Playa Grande’ beaches
of Puerto Del Carmen.
Please feel free to bring
your wetsuits if you so wish – our water
temperature ranges from 18c in winter to a fantastic 24c in summer.
Our great swim route is parallel to the main beaches, keeping it shallow,
but also out of any currents… you can even watch our local sub-tropical
fish as you clock up the metres!
On the 3rd Saturday of May every year, this is the same route that the Lanzarote Ironmen and Women take for the start of their grueling day.
Lanzarote’s bike routes are some of the most breathtaking in the world. Whether it’s a short 20k, or a grueling 180k (Ironman distance) we can ensure that it’s a journey you’ll rate up there with the best.
From the white sandy beaches of the south, the palm tree lined winding streets
of the North, or the outstanding 500 volcanoes in-between the bike tours
we have planned for you are amazing!
When you participate
in our scheduled runs, you can chose between road or off-road runs. For
the ‘road’ runs, we will take you for 5k,
10k or 20k, along the beachfront promenade in Puerto Del Carmen, the route
for the Lanzarote ‘Ironman’. This is a beautiful setting along
the specially designed ‘running track’ on the promenade with
slight inclines and declines for beginners and professionals alike!
If you fancy something a little more adventurous, come and join us for one of our ‘off-road’ runs. The tracks we use, of varying lengths, take us through the amazing countryside of Lanzarote. Depending upon your ability, we can provide a challenging run over tarmac road, Lanzarote ‘picon’ (the black lava gravel), or over rugged terrain.
Participants must come prepared for the heat and terrain with good shoes, hat, sun cream and water bottle carrier.
“When your body is burning and you feel like you can’t
push anymore, what will drive you to the finish?”
With over 10 years experience in the fitness industry, Salv Allgretti at Complete Personal Training (CPT) specializes in results through Core Training, Postural Correction and Functional Strengthening.

During your sessions with Salv you will learn the importance of core and functional strength in Triathlon training, and of course…. How to apply it effectively!
We have incorporated 2 CPT sessions with Salv into your Triathlon training week, as we feel this is a fundamental part of our training programmes.
